Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
Can I message you just to talk through tattoo ideas?
Yes! If you aren’t ready to book just yet, but you want to discuss ideas with me anyway, please email me at: drtattoobookings@gmail.com
I am always happy to help plan your next tattoo, and point you in the right direction!
How do you charge for your tattoos?
I charge by the piece, not by an hourly rate. I am always happy to give you a quote on how much I think a tattoo will cost.
My minimum charge is $150, this usually applies to any small line work tattoo that takes less than 30 mins.
My day rate is $1000, this is for any booking that goes from roughly 10:30am-5pm or longer.
What days do you work?
I work Tuesday - Saturday, 10:30am - 5:30pm.
What can I do to prepare before my tattoo appointment?
Your body’s health plays a big role in how you will handle a tattoo! Get a good night’s rest, eat a big breakfast, drink lots of water, bring some snacks or drinks to the appointment with you (sugary snacks are great).
I don’t personally provide numbing cream but I am ok if you want to use it. Apply it a good hour or two before coming in and wrap tightly in cling wrap.
How do I look after my tattoo?
When your tattoo is finished I will wrap it in cling wrap. Leave this wrap on for 2-6 hours. When you remove the wrap wash your tattoo in warm, soapy, running water (shower/sink). Once dry, apply cream 1-3 times a day for the next 2 weeks (not too much cream! Less is more, rub in fully). You shouldn’t swim or fully submerge your tattoo in water (bath, pool, ocean, spa) for 2 weeks. Washing your tattoo in running water is fine, but don’t over do it. One wash in the shower daily is fine, or if you get it dirty during the day you can wash it in a sink etc.
Do you do cover-ups?
Yes! I am happy to cover up your crappy old tatts. Send me through a photo of what you want covered, or come into Hobart Tattoo Collective and show me.
Do you do touch-ups?
Yes, if I tattoo you and it doesn’t heal the way it should, I am more than happy to do a free touch-up! If you want me to touch-up a tattoo someone else has done, I will charge as normal for that.
Do you tattoo other styles?
Yes! I usually only post the traditional Japanese tattoos I do, but I tattoo a lot of other styles also. I love my job no matter what style!
Do you do comission paintings?
Yes! I am happy to make a custom painting for you. Email me at drtattoobookings@gmail.com with what you want and we can go from there.
